Please note that we have 40 positions available - so please limit your nominations to one name per program

CRITERIA FOR THE SUBMISSION OF
'GUARDIAN OF THE FLAME' ESCORT NOMINATIONS
The only criteria that we would like to emphasize as you make your selection is that this is intended to be an opportunity for attendees in good standing, who may not have otherwise received significant recognition or awards from Council or their individual programs, such as Hall of Fame, John Carion, Final Leg selection and the like. This is really an opportunity to engage your newest LETR member and or program’s LETR “hot prospect” for whom you wish to create an international participation opportunity that may solidify their future involvement.
Further, we hope to instil not only in the participants of this processional, but also in the general body of attendees, the significance of being a Guardian of the Flame. While a relatively simple concept and ceremony, selected participants should be extremely honored to be involved.
Please provide ONE name of a confirmed conference attendee that meets the above criteria who would be willing to bring their dress uniform, including hat (no weapons), to the conference and wear it to at least one general session. Those selected to be in the Guardians of the Flame Miner’s Lamp Escort will be sent further instructions on where and to whom to report at the conference.
Guardians of the Flame will carry the Miner’s Lamp into all general sessions except Opening Ceremony (exit only). Each group of the Guardians of the Flame Miner’s Lamp Escort will be comprised of four officers. Guardians assigned to the Honors Luncheon will also participate in the “In Remembrance” Tribute during the luncheon, to honor and pay tribute to the law enforcement men and women who were active in the Law Enforcement Torch Run® movement and have passed away since last year’s conference.
All Guardians are invited to wear their uniforms to the HOF Banquet and participate in the closing ceremony when the Torch is exchanged between Illinois and Texas, our conference hosts for 2024. The increased number of uniforms during the ceremony should be impressive as well as rewarding for the participants.
For almost a quarter century, the IACP has hosted the LETR photography contest and each year the power of photography and the emotions they convey speak volumes.
The photos submitted are a reminder of the immeasurable benefits the Torch Run offers to the athletes, officers, and the community they serve.
The IACP is again extending the opportunity and invitation to all LETR programs to submit their Torch Run® photos for this contest.
The I.A.C.P. Photo Contest website will close on Friday, 30 June 2023 (at 5.00pm EDT)
