Greg Dawson is a corporal at the Fayetteville Police Department in Arkansas. He has been involved with LETR since the late 1990s when he started as a torch runner in South Carolina. He moved back to Arkansas in 2004 and became the state LETR director as well as a powerlifting coach for Area 3 in Northwest Arkansas. He joined the Final Leg Planning Committee as vice-chair in 2022 and was elected as an At-Large member of the LETR International Executive Council in 2023. He currently also serves as the Election Committee Chair. Greg’s motivation for supporting Special Olympics is the joy and brightness that the athletes bring to his heart. He is passionate about raising awareness and funds for people with intellectual disabilities and providing them with opportunities to participate in sports and other activities.

Greg has a 28-year career in law enforcement, with assignments in various divisions such as K-9 handler, Crime Suppression Unit, Firearms Instructor, and ALERRT Instructor. He is also a member of the 4th Judicial Drug Task Force Interdiction Unit, the Crisis/Hostage Negotiations Team, the CPTED, the Peer Team, and an ICISF Instructor. Greg has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Arkansas and several certifications in his field.
