Mark McGugan is a dedicated law enforcement professional who has served with the London Police Service since 1988, amassing a wealth of experience over nearly four decades. His roles have included Crisis Negotiator Team Leader, Tactical Team Member, and Trainer for Active Shooter Response. He has also contributed significantly to major crime investigations, specifically in the homicide division, and currently supervises the Mental Health Crisis Team. Mark’s educational background includes a diploma from Fanshawe College and training at the Ontario Police College. Additionally, he has held various leadership positions within the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics, including serving as the Region 11 Coordinator since 2021 and the Ontario LETR Director from 2017 to 2020.

Mark’s commitment to the LETR movement began 35 years ago, inspired by the senior members of his organization. He has been a steadfast supporter since his first run in 1989, taking on roles such as the London Police Service Coordinator and Ontario Zone 6 Coordinator. His passion for Special Olympics is further demonstrated through his involvement in organizing the 2010 Canadian National Summer Games and his current roles on the John Carion Award Committee and the IEC Athlete Award Committee. Mark’s long-standing dedication and diverse expertise underscore his invaluable contributions to both law enforcement and the Special Olympics community.
