Rodney Seurer, currently serving as the IACP Appointee on the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) International Executive Council, has dedicated over 40 years to the Special Olympics and the LETR movement. Recently retired from his position as Police Chief of the Savage Police Department in Minnesota, Rodney’s commitment to law enforcement and community service is profound. His brother Aaron’s longstanding participation in the Special Olympics since the age of 8 has deeply inspired Rodney and his family, leading them to raise over $200,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota athletes through various fundraising efforts. His extensive LETR experience includes roles such as department coordinator for the Durham Police Department, regional coordinator for North Carolina, and chair of the Minnesota LETR Executive Council, among others.
In addition to his LETR involvement, Rodney has made significant contributions to the Special Olympics as a Bowling Unified Partner and by participating in summer and winter games medal ceremonies at local and state levels. Professionally, he has served as Chief of Police since 2006, specializing in crisis negotiations, emergency management, and crime prevention. His educational background includes an Associate’s Degree in Police Science and Fire Science from Durham Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Justice from Guilford College, and a Master of Arts in Human Services with a focus on Criminal Justice Leadership from Concordia University, St. Paul.
