Ron Casalenda, a retired Chief of Police from Douglas, Wyoming, has been an integral part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics since 1992. Initially invited to participate in a State Final Leg, Ron quickly became captivated by the movement’s mission. Over the years, he has served in numerous capacities, including as a State Torch Runner, State LETR Director, and LETR International Executive Council Regional Coordinator. Ron’s commitment to LETR is evidenced by his participation in several Final Leg runs, including the World Winter Games in Alaska (2001) and the World Summer Games from Athens to Ireland (2003). His expertise has also been crucial in logistics team roles during the World Games in Korea-California (2013/2015) and the USA Games in Washington-Florida (2018/2022).

Beyond his LETR involvement, Ron’s professional career is marked by significant contributions to law enforcement and community safety. He has held various roles such as Drug Enforcement Task Force Member, School Resource Officer, D.A.R.E. Officer, and Hostage Negotiator. Additionally, he has served as a Fire/Arson Investigator and a Certified Communications Officer. Ron is also a past Chair and member of the SOWY Board of Directors and continues to engage with Special Olympics as a Unified Bowling Partner. His dedication to both his profession and community reflects his unwavering commitment to service and excellence.
