I’m D. Jeannie Sanchez, a Lieutenant with the Shreveport Police Department in Louisiana.
In 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to be selected by the Louisiana LETR Program to represent my agency and state in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin, Germany.
This year, I am deeply honored to have been chosen as a Team Leader for the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg Team for the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy.
The Final Leg is the grand finale of Torch Run events that occur annually across the world.
I have arrived in Athens, Greece to begin this journey with other officers and athletes from around the globe. Our mission is clear: to increase public awareness and resources for the Special Olympic movement, while spreading the message of inclusion. I’m thrilled to witness the Flame of Hope being lit by the rays of the sun in a ceremony held at Zappeion Palace in Athens, the birthplace of the Olympics.
